Medical and Health Studies Journal is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing research and innovation in medicine, public health, and healthcare sciences across multidisciplinary contexts.
Medical and Health Studies Journal aims to publish high-quality, original research papers, case studies, and literature reviews that contribute to the development of medical knowledge, health systems, and evidence-based healthcare practices in Indonesia and globally.
Medical and Health Studies Journal is published three times per year (March, July, and November) by the Institute of Information Technology and Social Science (IITSS), Indonesia. All submitted manuscripts are subject to a rigorous double-blind peer review process.
Medical and Health Studies Journal does not accept research articles or manuscripts submitted or published elsewhere.
The journal also does not publish book reviews, program evaluations, or manuscripts describing personal experiences or non-research-based reports.
All manuscripts submitted must be written in English.
Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to MHSJ are initially screened by the editors for general fit with the journal’s focus, scope, and writing quality. Only manuscripts deemed suitable will proceed to the double-blind peer review stage. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent experts in the relevant field.
Reviewers evaluate based on originality, methodological rigor, clarity, ethical standards, and contribution to the field. Reviewers are expected to submit their reviews within four weeks. If necessary, a third reviewer may be appointed when there is disagreement between the first two reviewers. The final decision—acceptance, revision, or rejection—rests with the Editorial Board.
Possible editorial decisions:
Accept as written (no revisions needed)
Accept with minor revisions (no second review required)
Accept with major revisions (second review required)
Reject (unsuitable for publication)
All manuscripts that are rejected in the initial editorial screening are returned promptly without external review.
Archiving
Medical and Health Studies Journal utilizes the LOCKSS and PKP PN (Public Knowledge Project Preservation Network) systems to create distributed archiving among participating libraries, ensuring long-term preservation and access for all published issues.
